Austin Area Urban League DPA Programs
Down Payment Assistance
At the Austin Area Urban League, our goal is to help African Americans as well as other underserved Austin area residents. We focus on improving education, employment readiness, wellness and health, and maintaining affordable housing.
First-Time Homebuyers Program
The First-Time Homebuyers Program supplies qualified families, who complete a number of homeownership workshops, with financial assistance. We provide $1,000.00 to qualified purchasers to help cover their down payment and closing costs. This program also offers homeownership classes. Our classes focus on the process of finding and buying a home, the variety of loan options available, budget management, the process of acquiring a home loan, and credit problems that can harm potential buyers when trying to secure a mortgage. The funds given are in partnership with State Farm, Wells Fargo, and Capital One.
- You will need to provide proof of residency, income, and identity. Forms of proof include but are not limited to pay stubs, current utility bill, birth certificate, tax returns, and driver’s license.
- A $50.00 non-refundable registration fee payable to AAUL is required per household.
- Maximum income restrictions do apply in order for families to qualify for financial assistance.
