City of Denison Down Payment Assistance Program
Down Payment Assistance
First-Time Homebuyers Program
The City of Denison’s Office of Community Development governs a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) used to bring owner-occupied, insufficient housing up to housing quality standards. The program process begins with a home inspection by the City of Denison. The inspector will examine the home for code violations and prepare a work write-up for contractors. The contractors will then prepare their bids for the project and submit them to be checked for accuracy. Once the contracts are approved, the director of community development will award the contracts.
Eligible first time homebuyers will receive $2,500 in funding. They may use the awarded funding for down payment and closing cost assistance. To qualify for assistance, the applicant’s household must fall within the income guidelines established by the U.S. HUD and the applicant must be a first time homebuyer, or not have owned a home within the past three years. This program provides up to 8 grants each year.
