The Houston Housing Finance Corporation is a non-profit coporation formed in December of 1979 by the City of Houston. They are a 501 (c)(3) corporation and their mission is to provide housing for low to moderate income residents of Houston.
The Houston Housing Finance Corporation, or HHFC, has issued over $600,000,000 in single-family mortgage revenue bonds and private activity bonds for multi-family housing. They have assisted 9,100 families in home ownership. The HHFC has also assisted nearly 1,900 addidtional families in purchasing a home by issuing $125MM of mortgage credit certificates. Other activites the corporation has paricipated in include purchasing $13MM of Habitat for Humanity mortgages, direct loans to develop residential lots, single room occupancy projects (SRO’s) for housing for the homeless, financing housing for seniors, renovation of the Rice Hotel, managing various down payment assistance programs and emergency home repair programs. Over the past 25 years, HHFC has assisted over 29,000 families with housing.
